Capital Market Working Group

Vietnam Business Forum Working Group: banking Working Group

Being established and developed with the aim at supporting the formation and development of the Vietnamese equity and debt markets, their infrastructure, and the institutions that populate them, the Capital Market Working Group has initiated suggestions to favourable changes in the market. This is illustrated by the greater inter-ministerial cooperation and a greater level of coordination between the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the State Securities Commission (SSC), and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) through the move of SSC to under MoF, or by the explicit role of the capital market in the process of equitisation, or by the strengthening of the transparency of the market with new regulations on information disclosure of listed companies. Currently, the Group is supporting the restructuring process of securities companies.

The Group is co-chaired by Mr. Dominic Scriven, Executive Chairman of Dragon Capital and Mr. Terence F. Mahony, Vice Chairman of Vina Capital. Key members of the Group are composed of (i) specified associations, namely Vietnam Association of Financial Investors (VAFI), Vietnam Association of Securities Business, (ii) fund management companies like Dragon Capital, Vinacapital, Indochina Capital, Mekong Capital, (iii) custodian banks like HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd., and (iv) securities companies, including Saigon Securities Incorporation, BaoViet Securities Company, and other members coming from law and insurance sectors.
