Banking Working Group
Founded in 1998, the Banking Working Group has proven itself one of the most active working groups in presenting its members' most pressing issues on doing business in Vietnam. Over the recent years, the Banking Working Group has played a key role in supporting the State Bank of Vietnam to improve the legal and regulatory framework for the banking and financial sector in Vietnam as well as its commercial effectiveness in developing the economy. The Group has successfully initiated and implemented a series of effective dialogues and engagements with the SBV. Besides the Group's position papers presented twice a year at the VBF meetings, the Group has often been invited by the SBV to provide inputs and recommendations for many important draft regulations. At the moment, the Group is working closely with the State Bank to help the Government to achieve its stated aims to apply international standards of governance and risk management in Vietnamese banks.
The Chairmanship of the Group changes every year and the Group is currently chaired by Mr. Pham Hong Hai, CEO of HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. Key members of the Banking Working Group consist of the leading foreign banks and other credit institutions operating in Vietnam, including Standard Chartered, CitiBank, ANZ, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, Bank of Tokyo - Mitsubishi UFJ, Bangkok Bank, J.P.
