Annual Vietnam Business Forum 2017 was held at Lotte Center Hanoi on December 12, 2017 with the theme of "VBF - 20 years of contribution and towards socio-economic development goals by 2020". Through the main three meeting sessions about (1) Productivity improvement and other factors to strengthen industries, (2) Facilitation of private funding to improve fiscal condition, and (3) Enhancing business environment for private businesses' breakthroughs, representatives from enterprises and VBF working groups presented the Government their concerns as well as recommendations, requests. In return, the Government addressed existing issues, concerns at the end of each session and the end of the meeting. The event ended with the celebration of 20th anniversary of VBF.

Annual VBF 2017 was honored to welcome the Prime Minister of Vietnam - Nguyen Xuan Phuc and other high-level officials. Furthermore, this big event caught the attention of many domestic and foreign enterprises and organizations. Nearly 700 representatives from different government departments, ministries, enterprises, organizations and media showed up at the meeting. This annual meeting, besides strengthening the cooperation, faciliating growth of the private sector, also marked the 20th year of development of VBF as the bridge connecting the Government and business community. 


The Mid-term Vietnam Business Forum 2017 was held on June 16th, 2017 at the Sheraton Hotel under the theme "Strengthening the linkage between FDI and domestic businesses in the new global context". Throughout the two main sessions entitled "Impact of global policies on private sector investment in Vietnam" and "Enhancing efficiency in implementation/enforcement of the current laws", recommendations from the business community have been well conveyed to the Government and received constructive and active responses.

It was a great honor to welcome Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and representatives from a variety of different ministries and sectors to attend this prestigious event. The forum drew the great attention of both the local and foreign business communities, as well as press and international organizations, with the total of nearly 700 participants. This Forum has cemented the government's commitment to support the development of the business community. Also, the foreign and local businesses have again expressed their determination in their support in enhancing efficiency and strengthening the link between themselves and accompanying with the Government for the development of the country's economy.


The Annual Vietnam Business Forum 2016 was organized on December 5, 2016 at Sheraton Hanoi Hotel under the theme of "Strengthening the Private Sector'' with the focus on improving domestic and FDI linkages for all businesses and sectors.

It was a great honor to welcome Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and representatives from various Ministries and sectors to attend this important event. In the context of the new government, the Forum gained special attention of local and foreign business community, international organisations, and the press. Its success can be seen at huge number of nearly 650 participants and coverages on numerous media channels. The presence and direction of the Prime Minister and concrete responses from Ministries' leaders to businesses' recommendations at the Forum have strengthened the Government's commitment in supporting the development of business community. At the event, the foreign and local businesses have shown their strong support to green and climate sensitive development in order to ensure the sustainability of the economy.


The Annual Vietnam Business Forum 2014 was organized on December 2 in Hanoi under the theme "Entrepreneurship for New Trade Agreements."

This is the second time the Forum had an honor to welcome the Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung. There were five key topics discussed during the Forum including financial sector and SOEs reforms, administrative procedures reforms, development of private sector and development of Vietnamese workforce in preparing business community to take full advantage of new trade agreements once Vietnam officially becomes a member.


The Midterm Vietnam Business Forum 2015 was organized on June 6, 2015, at Lotte Hanoi Hotel under the theme of "Enhancing Enterprise Competitiveness for Global Integration."

The success of the Forum was highlighted by the attendance and address of Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung together with Minister of Planning and Investment Mr. Bui Quang Vinh, Minister/Chairman of the Office of the Government Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Minister of Finance Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Mrs. Pham Thi Hai Chuyen, Minister of Science and Technology Mr. Nguyen Quan and a number of Vice Ministers from related Ministries.

The landmark Forum was co-chaired by H.E. Minister of Planning and Investment Mr. Bui Quang Vinh, Country Director of the World Bank in Vietnam Mdm. Victoria Kwakwa, IFC Regional Manager Mr. Kyle F. Kelhofer and VBF Consortium's Co-Chairmen Mr. Vu Tien Loc and Mrs. Virginia B. Foote.

The Forum was successful with an attendance of nearly 550 participants in total, in which over 20 Ambassadors of Diplomatic Missions and Country Directors of international organizations in Vietnam represented. These figures are a good evidence for the successfulness of VBF run by the private sector after it was transferred from the IFC.


Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) has offered members an exclusive opportunity to enjoy unparalleled access and engage in a high-level Dialogue between foreign businesses and key decision-making Central Government and Provincial Authorities in the south of Vietnam on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Hotel Nikko Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City.

This landmark Dialogue was co-chaired by H.E. Minister of Planning and Investment Mr. Bui Quang VINH, Ho Chi Minh City Vice Chairman Mr. Le Manh HA and VBF Consortium Representatives. Vice Minister level participants from the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Construction as well as Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs along with Leaders from Provincial Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring Ba Ria -Vung Tau, Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces further underline this Dialogue's great significance.

The Dialogue was tailor-made for VBF members to put forward and seek solutions to some of the most pressing issues facing FDI businesses today encompassing Employment, Licensing, Land and Property as well as Taxation and Customs. It was a SPECIAL and EXCLUSIVE chance for foreign business community to get direct access to Central Government and Provincial Authorities who together would drive reforms to improve the business environment in Vietnam.

Serving as a regular and high level channel of communication between the business community and the Vietnamese Government, the VBF is widely recognized as playing a key role in shaping reforms that create a better business environment in Vietnam.


Midterm Vietnam Business Forum 2014 was held on June 5, 2014 in Hanoi. The Forum theme was "From Agenda to Action - Preparing for New Trade Agreements."

The success of the Forum was highlighted by the presence of Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung and the strong delegation of government highest ranking officials.

It was a great honor to also welcome Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Mr. Cao Duc Phat, Minister/Chairman of the Office of the Government Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Vice Chairman of Office of the National Assembly ("NA") Mr. Nguyen Si Dung, Vice Chairman of NA's Economic Committee Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien and Vice Chairman of NA's Committee for External Affairs Mr. Ngo Duc Manh for all sessions and a great number of Vice Minister level to the Midterm VBF 2014.

The valued attendance of the Government Delegation transmitted a very encouraging signal to the business community that it can have full confidence in the Government's strong commitment to take action in order to take full advantage of new trade agreements that Vietnam currently and will engage in. This definitely has a very positive impact to restore business confidence in doing business and to realize the achievable goal of a more favorable investment climate in Vietnam.


The Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) met on June 3, 2013 in Hanoi and the presence of Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Vu Van Ninh again demonstrated the Government's strong commitment to embrace the dialogue initiative with the business community. Together they are committed to a more favorable investment environment in Vietnam through promoting immediate ACTIONs to accelerate the economic reform agenda.

The Midterm VBF 2013's broad-spectrum appeal and importance was evidenced by the participation of nearly 500 representatives from governmental agencies, donor community, local and foreign business community and media. In particular, more than 10 vice ministers and high-ranking officials from Government ministries attended and addressed pressing issues in various sectors raised by heads of VBF Working Groups. During the Forum, the business community received positive feedback from Government representatives on a number of pressing issues, such as the confirmation to maintain visa exemption for citizens of the seven countries (including Japan, Korea and Russia) visiting Vietnam for periods of up to 15 days; and the establishment of a national AMC to address the NPL problem, just to name a few.
