In the afternoon of Friday, 2nd August, VBF delegation including representatives from its Management Board, Power & Energy Working Group, and Infrastructure Working Group had a courtesy meeting with the newly-appointed MOIT Vice Minister H. E. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long.
On behalf of VBF, Mr. David Whitehead, VBF Management Board member, expressed heartfelt congratulations to the Vice Minister on his new role. VBF highly appreciated the Government’s issuance of Decree 80/2024/NĐ-CP, which stipulates the direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) mechanism between renewable energy generators and large electricity consumers, helps create a comprehensive legal framework, promote the development of a competitive electricity market, and attract more foreign investment to Vietnam in the future. The both sides also quick discussed some key topics, such as next steps for implementing the Decree 80 and to-be-finalized RTS Decree, Electricity Law (revised), Offshore Wind Pilot Project Mechanism, and LNG related issues.
