On 20 Nov 2025, representatives of the VBF Banking Working Group (BWG) met with the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV)’s IT Department to advocate for the recognition of Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) as a confirmation method for online banking services.
Following continuous engagement and constructive technical discussions between BWG and the SBV, Circular No. 77/2025/TT-NHNN has been issued updating regulations on online banking safety. Notably, the new Circular officially allows PGP – a widely used digital security tool – to be used for confirming online banking transactions. This is a positive step that helps banks apply secure and practical technology, making digital banking safer and more efficient.
This outcome reflects the effective collaboration and technical contributions of BWG members, as well as the SBV’s openness to dialogue and consideration of industry inputs. VBF and BWG sincerely appreciate the collective efforts of all counterparts involved, whose constructive engagement supported the development of a practical and secure regulatory framework for digital banking services in Vietnam.
