🗓 2 November 2026 | SBV Headquarters, Hanoi|
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and the VBF Banking Working Group (BWG) held their annual high-level meeting, co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Canh, Deputy Governor of the SBV, and Mr. Victor Ngo, Head of the VBF Banking Working Group.
🌐 The meeting brought together senior leaders from 12 SBV specialized departments and CEOs, senior executives from international banks operating in Vietnam – BWG members, providing a valuable platform for direct policy dialogue, exchanging perspectives and strengthening cooperation between the regulator and the international banking community.
📍 A key focus was the progress made in addressing practical issues raised by the banking sector. Mr. Victor Ngo noted that, during 2025 and the first half of 2026, the SBV had addressed 21 of the 39 issues raised by the BWG, with feedback and proposed directions also provided on the remaining matters. This reflects the value of sustained dialogue in translating business insights into practical regulatory improvements.
💌 Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh welcomed the BWG’s constructive contributions to regulatory development and encouraged continued cooperation, particularly in sharing international expertise and supporting capacity-building in digital transformation, cashless payments, and financial and banking services.
📍 The discussion also explored international experience and recommendations on governance, licensing and operational frameworks for the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC). Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the regulatory environment, enhancing policy implementation and supporting a safe, stable and efficient banking system.
