Power and Energy

The VBF PEWG was established in 2011 as a platform to facilitate policy dialogues between relevant Government authorities in Vietnam and the private sector, aiming for the sustainable development of the energy sector in Vietnam. In 2016, the Working Group published the report namely Made in Viet Nam Energy Plan, encouraging the usage of more renewable and energy efficiency in response to Vietnam’s amended Power Development Plan 7. The report has been updated in 2019, emphasizing the private sector position to support energy security in Vietnam and bringing attention to green energy possibilities to the government, businesses, and the press.

The Working Group has been granted by the European Climate Fund to facilitate its activities from 2019 to early 2021. A Steering Committee, including representative from different business communities, has been set up as an oversight body in governance of workplans/ outputs and presenting the common voice of the private sector to the Vietnamese government. The Working Group closely works with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Central Party, and other key organizations and offices.
